Charlotte
Gerson is currently 89 years of age, but is still active in most of the
activities of The Gerson Institute, based in San Diego as well as at The Gerson
Therapy Clinic in Playas de Tijuana, Mexico. Currently, the daily activities of
the clinic are handled by a board of Directors, but she is actively involved in
the lectures, radio and talk shows. In these programs, she explains in detail
about her father’s beliefs and vision, and how this therapy has worked wonders
for people who had given up on current forms of modern medication and found
relief in this alternative form of therapy.
Hard Life
Born in
Germany, Charlotte Gerson and her family fled the country to Austria where she
was diagnosed with bone tuberculosis, a normally fatal disease. Her father, Dr. Max Gerson used Charlotte as
his guinea pig and started her on The Gerson Therapy which he had promulgated;
this was an all-natural therapy that boosts the body’s immune system to fight
off any harmful disease. Soon after, they left Austria for France enroute to
London. From there, they moved to New York City, where she helped her father
run his clinic for patients who were very seriously ill. She also attended
Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts for two years before discontinuing
her studies and got married to Irwin. She took over the running of the clinic
from her father when he died in 1959 and has been fighting against all odds to
maintain The Gerson Therapy for people fighting cancer.
Boosting Immune Power
While
there were many cases of how The Gerson Therapy helped people energize their
body’s immune and healing system through the use of fresh organic juices of
fruits and vegetables, supplements, and various alternative forms of therapies.
Charlotte Gerson made enemies in the powerful pharmaceutical industry because
she championed this alternative form of therapy, resulting in disputes with the
American Medical Association. She never changed her goal of proving that her
father’s claims were valid and that she herself was living proof of being a
survivor of a fatal disease, with The Gerson Therapy. In addition, she started
the Gerson Institute along with Normal Fritz, the president of The Cancer
Control Society, which was set up expressly to train caregivers and interested
individuals in this treatment.
Next Generation
Charlotte Gerson has taken her father’s premise and added extensively to the treatment protocol using the latest in raw and organic fruits and vegetables and other exclusive therapies to make the body’s immune system fight off the cancer without using expensive but potentially harmful chemotherapy and radiation therapies. She has written many books about her experiences, most of which have become bestsellers around the world. She has also been the subject of numerous documentaries where she has explained her father’s principle, his vision, her contribution, and constant fight to keep his dream alive, first through her hard work and also through the efforts of her children, who are keeping The Gerson Therapy flame alive.
